ENS DAO Delegate Applications

ENS name: blvkhvnd.eth (representing BLVKHVND)

My reasons for wanting to be a delegate: What is in a name? It can describe yourself, a brand, a community, an ideology, technology, games, artwork, culture, and so on. Names are the foundation to which our worlds are built on. As such, a decentralized identity system like ENS allows us to have an extremely powerful and composable name that has incredible implications. For BLVKHVND (pronounced ā€œBlack Handā€), we are working to build a decentralized gaming community to empower casual, amateur, and professional gamers alike in an open environment that is fair, accessible, and modular.

Our global gaming community comprises of streamers, pro players, concept artists, game designers, sports enthusiasts and more. Each with unique identities that they unfortunately donā€™t own in traditional content and entertainment spaces. With ENS, we have the ability to onramp gamers to be in control of their IP, and leverage their own communities to engage with them and also enjoy the upside of their support. Imagine a world where any and all content creators own their names and everything that theyā€™ve built. Web3 is posing that question, and we now have the tools to work towards that goal.

For BLVKHVND, becoming a delegate allows us to participate in the governance of our names with the weight of gaming communities, content communities, artistic communities, who know that a name is the most powerful thing you can have.

My view on each section of the proposed ENS Constitution

  • Name ownership shall not be infringed: (Agree/Disagree/Comment) Agree
  • Fees are primarily an incentive mechanism: (Agree/Disagree/Comment) Agree
  • Income funds ENS and other public goods: (Agree/Disagree/Comment) Agree
  • ENS Integrates with the global namespace: (Agree/Disagree/Comment) Agree

My web3 qualifications / skills: BLVKHVND as a DAO (founded Aug '21) holds a passionate 258 members with a 500+ broader discord community. Many of our token holders are part of impactful web3 DAOs, companies, and projects like Forefront, Seed Club, Mirror, Mint Fund, Zora, etc. We are surrounded by, and governed by great minds and empathetic hearts that can not only speak to the technical aspects of proposals, but the social impact governance has on our community but the decentralized community as a whole.

As Sirsu.eth, one of the principle representatives of BLVKHVND, Iā€™ve been tapped into social impact and public goods with the inception of Mint Fund and $BOUNTY (to develop a permissionless auction method in collaboration with Zora, Mirror, + Billy Rennekamp). I want to build opportunities for communities of culture to own their names, their heritage, their traditions, their artifacts on chain. Preservation of identity is a core tenet of my work and purpose in crypto.

My reasons for wanting to be a delegate:
ENS is one of the best bets at being a viable solution to decentralized identity (DID). As of now there are many DID solutions which are fragmented and opinionated. ENS has the ability to bridge this gap.

With EIP-4361 being developed, ENS will play a significant role as the de facto profile page in many web3 applications. The move to adopt ethereum based logins will make ENS indispensable for any web3 applications or web2 applications leveraging on web3.

My view on each section of the proposed ENS Constitution:

  • Name ownership shall not be infringed: Agree
  • Fees are primarily an incentive mechanism: Agree
  • Income funds ENS and other public goods: Agree
  • ENS Integrates with the global namespace: Agree

My web3 qualifications / skills:
I started developing smart contracts since 2017

I built Ethcert in 2018 which was a notarization solution for education certificates and more. Opencerts had since emerged as a better maintained solution and ethcert was deprecated.

Later in 2018, I built Hypervalence which was a curation market for artists and fans. Allowing artists to create unique collectible NFT tokens on the market which they could sell to raise funds.

As of now, Iā€™m building Zesty Market which is a p2p rental marketplace for digital spaces. It seeks to bridge spaces in the metaverse through monetized portals. We hope to create a universal incentivized SDK to allow for metaverse interoperability. Decentralized identity supported by ENS is heavily needed, otherwise the only alternative is centralized identity owned by tech monopolies. ENS paves a better way forward.

We believe one of the most empowering aspects of crypto is returning digital ownership back to community members and users. My reasons for wanting to be a delegate:
ā€œDonā€™t waste your votes. Vote on the one who strongly believes the future of the identity protocolā€

As a passionate crypto believer, Iā€™ve been working on building a community for spreading the true vision of crypto for around 4 yrs, and have been thinking that the ENS is the gateway of all crypto communities on ETH. ENS is not just only the name system, but also more of the base blood vessel of web3 I think. Now we should find a way to implement a true another you on the blockchain and I truly believe that I can be part of the journey.

My reasons for wanting to be a delegate: I tried to donate my openssl.eth to openssl.org, I tried to send an email to this organization but they did not respond. ENS name: bitnews.eth

My reasons for wanting to be a delegate

I believe it is a solid building block of the internet.

My view on each section of the proposed ENS Constitution

I think Brantly presents a beautiful draft, that I agree fully but I think they should expanded in clearer sub items.

Name ownership is an absolute right:

Name ownership should never be taken from a user, unless by lack of renewal. ENS DAO is encouraged to experiment with renewal mechanisms but always follow these principles:

  • No discrimination : renewal mechanisms should be the same for everyone and should never be based on characteristics of the buyer or name, except character length.
  • No retroactivity : the rules a person agreed upon when renewing should be valid until your period ends
  • No allow/blocklists : content filters should be a client side decision. If a developer desires (or is compelled by an authority) to block or restrict certain content, it should be resolved on a layer above ENS. The ENS DAO should do its best to avoid being subject to any particular jurisdiction.

Registration fees exist as an incentive mechanism:

Registration and renewals should never have the aim to raise money, but to find balance in these fundamental principles:

  • ENS should be available A user who wants to buy names should be able to find enough suitable names directly from the layer one, not find out most names are privately owned
  • ENS should be accessible Names should not cost so much that it becomes prohibitively, and should be the most affordable possible without compromising the availability principle above
  • ENS should be useful Most names should be in active use by their users, and not just being held back for speculation or resale value

Income funds ENS and other public goods:

*I agree with the text given

ENS Integrates with the global

  • ENS will respect the namespace of traditional DNS and any other major naming conventions (ex: .onion) without charging any extra fees
  • While ENS will always be deeply rooted on Ethereum, it will play well and promote integrations with other Chains, Shards and Coins (Ex: support for BTC addresses, integration with non-ethereum wallets, development of multi chain standard supports, etc) with the goal of a global Name ownership on the internet, not just on ethereum.

Principle: Any proposal that is detrimental to the interests of the domain name holder, we need to verify whether it is really necessary

My web3 qualifications / skills

  • Maintaining an Ethereum node
  • Familiar with Ethereum contract development and wallet development
  • Familiar with dao design and protocol
  • Studying computer art to design NFT

ENS name: voronkov.eth

My reasons for wanting to be a delegate: Greetings dear community members! :hugs: At some point, I became heavily disappointed in centralization. Freedom is not possible without true decentralization of the communities. While being a Russian citizen, at the same time I am a resident of Norway, which is considered to be one the freest countries in the world with a developed democratic system. Nevertheless, even in the most transparent democracy, I see how different groups of people dominate and enforce others and others have a lack of freedom to live according to their rules. Similar centralization damages the internet. Currently dominating social networks abuse power, infringe ownership rights and represent a totalitarian dictatorship. I consider the ban of Donald Trump (independently of my political position) Twitter account was a symbolic act of digital dictatorship and a symbol of the end of traditional (web2.0) social networks and the internet (web1.0). Therefore I foresee web3 decentralized internet, truly owned by its users to be a winner in the fight for freedom! I see that ENS can be a cornerstone in this new WEB3 era and I am 100% dedicated to tirelessly working for the benefit of ENS DAO and web3 users overall! :fist: :fist: :fist: :fist: :fist: :fist: :fist: :fist: :fist:

ENS name: StephenBrowne.eth

My reasons for wanting to be a delegate: I have been full time in crypto and blockchain full time for the last 4 years and have seen many things come and go during that time. ENS Domains, from the first time I encountered them, I realised it was an important project/movement that was here to stay. My background prior to crypto was in law, specially advocacy, so I think I can bring a lot of these skills to bear for the role of being a delegate. I have skills for analysing problems and coming up with practical solutions.

My view on each section of the proposed ENS Constitution

  • Name ownership shall not be infringed: (Agree/Disagree/Comment) Agree - This is something that goes along with the very essence of the ENS domains.
  • Fees are primarily an incentive mechanism: (Agree/Disagree/Comment) - Agree, although ensuring quality of the network is paramount, so fees must also be used to ensure this ,
  • Income funds ENS and other public goods: (Agree/Disagree/Comment) Agree

ENS name:
gwera.eth

My reasons for wanting to be a delegate:
Iā€™m really enthusiastic about ENS and decentralization. It gives me the promise and shimmer of early internet vibes, but this time, we have the gift of hindsight.

Iā€™m particularly excited for the potential ENS has to shape and drive identity in the global south. The possibilities of this community are beyond exciting and I would be honoured to be a part of building and moving forward.

Iā€™m all in on the future of decentralization and the public good it promises, but I also acknowledge that bad actors exist to ruin things for all of us. I will advocate for fairness with ENS domains and the future of identity.

My view on each section of the proposed ENS Constitution 478

  • Name ownership shall not be infringed: (Agree)

  • Fees are primarily an incentive mechanism: (Agree)
While I agree, Iā€™d like to consider the proposed constitution here which talks about fees also being used as a disincentive model.

  • Income funds ENS and other public goods: (Agree)
the definition of public good should always be reviewed and voted on by community members. we donā€™t wanna repeast the whole ā€œdonā€™t be evilā€ debacle. Income should be used to drive adoption and building for public good with ENS.

  • ENS Integrates with the global namespace: (Agree)

My web3 qualifications / skills:

  • avid user of web3 apps but Iā€™ve recently flung myself head first into building in web3

  • often appear as a special guest on the blockchain insider podcast

  • currently working in fintech, building truly digital financial services - closer to the trad-fi

  • keen to get involved in de-fi - specifically to drive financial inclusion and web3 adoption in the global south.

Iā€™m on a mission* to bridge the knowledge gap between emerging web3 tech and the mainstream world.

ENS name: mauvis.eth

My reasons for wanting to be a delegate: Hi Iā€™m Mauvis. I am the biggest fan of the decentralized web. Iā€™m the former CTO of CoinMarketCap. I am the trusted multi-sig holder of many projects including Aavegotchi. Iā€™m also a fullstack + web3 developer who manages his own nodes. I believe I have the knowledge, connections, and fortitude to continue to make ENS a success as a delegate.

My view on each section of the proposed ENS Constitution

  • Name ownership shall not be infringed: Agree, I believe this is a core concept of the decentralized web.
  • Fees are primarily an incentive mechanism: Agree, the fees are minimal, critical to prevent sybil attacks, but also sufficient enough to continue advancement of ENS.
  • Income funds ENS and other public goods: Agree, even if overbudget there is plenty to do good for ENS, blockchains, the decentralized web, and other public good.
  • ENS Integrates with the global namespace: Agree, only in that ENS is an open-source, community driven project and integrating with the global namespace is quickest way to mainstream adoption. COMMENT: I believe ICANN should and will eventually be replaced eventually as all ā€œpublic-goodā€ services should eventually shed the intermediaries that helped bootstrap those networks. Before blockchains this was impossible.

My web3 qualifications / skills:
I have been a full-stack engineer for the past 15 years, CTO of multiple startups, and well-versed in web3 and running/managing my own blockchain nodes.
