ENS name: whoismoses.eth
My reasons for wanting to be a delegate: Decentralization and crypto has changed my life for the better and I want to help move the world to be a much more decentralized place.
My view on each section of the proposed ENS Constitution
- Name ownership is an absolute right: (Agree/Disagree/Comment)** - Agreed. However there are fees for the renewal of name. One might not be able to pay them in the future. If this is an “absolute right” renewal fees should be optional. ENS should find ways to incentivize payments through new services or just take a tiny fee as part of record updates. For example changing 0.01 or 0.001 for ENS record changes. As the web3 world will be using ENS as an account not just an identifier their ENS name becomes their identity. No one has the right to take that away. If the ENS foundation was at risk of failing due to funding, it would be in the best interest of ENS name owners to donate to keep their names safe.
- Registration fees exist as an incentive mechanism: (Agree/Disagree/Comment)** - Agreed, some friction makes every process better.
- Income funds ENS and other public goods: (Agree/Disagree/Comment)** - Agreed, product roadmap and value add services are important to the continued life of the ENS foundation. Proper management of funds and proper product management are required.
- ENS Integrates with the global namespace: (Agree/Disagree/Comment) - Disagree. Legacy DNS names are just another way that people can be controlled as the management of them is centralized and those assets can be seized by governments. If the governance team chooses to continue legacy DNS integration that is fine, I don’t think it should be an immutable tenant of the ENS foundation.
My web3 qualifications / skills:
- The number one qualification I have is I am a believer in decentralized control will eventually bring true freedom to all humans. Centralized control is a great threat and has been all along. We know have the technology to enable decentralized systems, organization, and currencies.
- I’ve been in the cryptocurrency space as an investor, node operator, and miner since 2015. It has changed my life for the better is so many ways. I must continue to give back.
- I believe ENS critically important. So important that I have registered the ENS names for my son, wife, business (each of them), me, my online handles.
- I am one of the founders of a DAO that has not launched yet, built on Ethereum. Though I am a founder, once governance starts, I’ll be just one of the token holders. It is a leaderless organization.
- I am a Software Engineer
- I own a decent amount of digital art that is special because it is mine and no one can take it away from me.
- I know I already said this, but personal freedoms are very important to me and someone’s identity is at the top of that list. I want ENS to be successful and I am willing to be more than just an active participant.
