ENS DAO Delegate Applications

**ENS name:**mattbrennan.eth

My reasons for wanting to be a delegate: I am very excited about Ethereum and the possibilities it brings to the entirety of the human race. I think that a decentralized world is the future and Ethereum is at the center of it. I view ENS as an absolutely integral part of that future and allows for everyone to be a part of web3 and be celebrated for their unique characteristics, backgrounds, and status.

  • Registration fees exist as an incentive mechanism: (Agree/Disagree/Comment) Agree - Part of the game theoretics that ensures that a decentralized blockchain can keep itself perpetually sustainable
  • Income funds ENS and other public goods: (Agree/Disagree/Comment) Agree - The best thing we can do with the funds available is be good stewards to perpetuate the future of the Ethereum network
  • ENS Integrates with the global namespace: (Agree/Disagree/Comment) Agree - Your name should be available as nomenclature across all platforms and protocols and webspaces

My web3 qualifications / skills: I have been involved with the web3 space since the beginning of 2021. I have familiarity with Layer 2 rollups, sidechains, layer one blockchains, NFT minting, ENS, and proselytizing to all who will listen on the benefits of the decentralized future of web3.

ENS name: 2021go.eth

My reasons for wanting to be a delegate:

When I first learned about ENS, I was deeply attracted by it. In my opinion, ENS is the key to entering the blockchain world and meta-universe. We only need to exist in the form of ENS, no one cares about what we are called and where we come from. ENS gave us another identity to do more fun things.

I rely on this mark to travel through many interesting areas such as DEFI, NFTS, RSS3, Mirror, etc. I have a deep understanding of Web3 and ENS and their interesting ways to play in the future. At the same time, my English is very good and I can understand the code. I think I can do some very meaningful things.

ENS name: cissel.eth

My reasons for wanting to be a delegate:

I want to be a delegate to help maintain and grow such an integral part of the Ethereum ecosystem. Like so many others ENS was one of the first of many stops on my journey down the crypto rabbit hole. I want to help maintain that environment so that future generations can have the same experience. I will help any way I can to ensure that ENS grows and scales to its full potential as efficiently as possible without sacrificing accessibility for first-time users because they will be crucial to ensuring the long-term growth of the Ethereum ecosystem at large. I would love to play a role in making it as easy as possible for them to get their feet wet so they can see the full potential of crypto/web3.

ENS name: Tulip.eth

My reasons for wanting to be a delegate:

I am a CIO under a multinational logistics company. Crypto is my own interest. I started to know ENS long ago, I never doubted ENS could be the evolution to replace dot com ever since the moment I realized its real value and vision.

I personally enjoy sharing latest cool stuffs to people around. Regarding ENS, I have done almost 20+ presentations (I made good ENS slides myself) in different forum and sharing parties in China. I have access and good relationship to pretty much most of high profile crypto folks in China (which is not easy due to local restriction). I have shared my slides with Brantly once(April 2021) and maybe you team can check and verify.

I also own a lot of top ENS names (for example, coin.eth), which I am pretty sure these will worth great fortune some day in the future. I hear a lot of suggestions from local crypto folks, and I also have a lot of thoughts about ENS myself. My incentive to improve this project might be as much as Brantly/Nick or even more. I wish ENS could be on fast improving right track, and I will also enjoy if I can be a part of it.

Last but not least, below are the 3 points why ENS is great and can replace dot com, in my point of view:

Native belief, proud followers and partners

Wallets/browsers canā€™t wait to proactively integrate with ENS, because that will make themselves look more legit. Instead, unstoppable and other crypto domain project pays to integrate those wallets, that is definitely one hundred miles away.

There are just so many .eth twitter handles, each of them is in the party of that evolution, each of them is using their own power to inspire people around them, the follower number of each .eth twitter account can be a hint, and the trend is ascending.

Native association

Your address association wonā€™t have any security issue, as long as you keep and protect you seed phrase well.

Same for sub-domain management.
Trademark and UDRP doesnā€™t work in crypto world.
Yours is yours, no one can take it away from your, unlike the traditional TLDs.

Personally I donā€™t think it is a good idea for ENS to ā€œkeep showing niceā€ to ICANN, helping traditional TLD users to understand ENS is good, but ICANN as a very centralized bureau, it is on the reverse way of ENSā€™s vision.

Name ownership is an absolute right: Agree

Registration fees exist as an incentive mechanism ): Agree

Income funds ENS and other public goods: Agree

ENS Integrates with the global namespace: Agree

My web3 qualifications / skills:

I would more prefer to call that dweb, as decentralized web/distributed web. ENS+IPFS is the foundation of dweb, lots of people only know ENS can do crypto association, but they didnā€™t realize what ENS does is hash association, and IPFS can also be a type of hash(content).

I truly believe that dweb will be the future trend(like internet in the past 20 years), because it is a website that never down and cannot be blocked.

I have my own project: tulip.eth.link. I hired couple developers and worked 2 months to complete it. It is actually quite difficult do launch a ā€œ.ethā€ website at this age, most development team never heard of it at all! Tulip.eth is a dweb version of coinmarketcap, using the APIs to collect information and show on a dweb uploaded to IPFS. It has the ranking of coin/exchange/defi. Accessing tulip.eth.link is like accessing files on bit torrent, with more people access it, the performance will improve accordingly. We all know that the ranking coinmarketcap/coingecko might have some hidden logic under the table. While dweb doesnā€™t have database itself, so that it does not have issue of ā€œtrustā€.

ENS name: oxide.eth

My reasons for wanting to be a delegate: Iā€™ve followed ENS for a long time and have been very impressed by how much the project has contributed to the growth of Ethereum and the formation of the broader crypto communityā€™s views around decentralized applications. ENS provides an invaluable service to the Ethereum ecosystem, and itā€™s place as a public good for all to benefit from is clear. As ENS moves to a DAO structure, Iā€™d like to put myself forward as a delegate. I believe my opinions around the future direction of ENS - maintaining it is a public good, maintaining decentralization and further developing the functionality and integrations of ENS - align with many, or at least some of the stakeholders in ENS.

My view on each section of the proposed ENS Constitution

  • Name ownership is an absolute right: Yes, however, I donā€™t believe that adjusting the fees to register names violates this right so long as the fees are the same for all users. Anyone should be able to register an ENS name provided they can pay the minimal ENS fee + gas.
  • Registration fees exist as an incentive mechanism: Yes, registration fees are essential to combat squatting and to encourage participants in ENS to use their names productively. We must balance this however with the goal of allowing as many legitimate users as possible to register their names.
  • Income funds ENS and other public goods: Yes, income should fund the development and maintenance of ENS. Any excess funds should be accrued to an ENS treasury to ensure a stable financial position for ENS in case of a prolonged market downturn. If there are still funds remaining, ENS should consider funding or donating to projects the build atop ENS or contribute public goods to the Ethereum ecosystem.
  • ENS Integrates with the global namespace: Yes, ENS should, without sacrificing decentralization, integrate with the existing global namespace. ENS could be a useful tool to assist in onboarding legacy/traditional businesses to crypto.

My web3 qualifications / skills: I have experience in Web Dev, and some solidity programming (looking to further my skills here) I do come from a technical / software background so can provide thoughts and opinions on technical matters. I also have experience in Go and Rust programming among others, and distributed systems experience.

ENS name: luckincoffee.eth

My reasons for wanting to be a delegate: I know ENS is the future. As an early user of ens, I feel responsible to help ENS gain a better and better adoption among the public. For example, talk with various universities, NGOs, and clubs to convince them to use ENS. This is the future and inevitable, what I want to do is to be in the right direction of the history and speed up the process. To be a delegate, I can gain more attention from the public and then educate the market. In the mean time, I can help the clients ENS to get their voiced heard by the DAO.

My view on each section of the proposed ENS Constitution

  • Name ownership is an absolute right: (Agree/Disagree/Comment)
  • Registration fees exist as an incentive mechanism: (Agree/Disagree/Comment)
We need registration fees to exist, however the rate may subject to change to better fit the current situation (Currently The gas fee is usually much higher than the registration fee; The rate is dependent on the length of the name may need some adjustment, like the occurrence frequency of a word).
  • Income funds ENS and other public goods: (Agree/Disagree/Comment)
  • ENS Integrates with the global namespace: (Agree/Disagree/Comment)

My web3 qualifications / skills:

  • I am with A&T Capital, which is a $100 million crypto fund.

  • Name ownership is an absolute right: Agree : This is the absolute right of the individual that registered the name first!!! First come First Serve.

  • Registration fees exist as an incentive mechanism: Agree : Registration fees help keep the protocol incentivized and secure, this needs to stay in place.

  • Income funds ENS and other public goods: Agree: The income does need to fund the ENS and other projects so that we can continue to evolve and grow the ENS DAO project.

  • ENS Integrates with the global namespace: Agree: Having ENS integrate with the global namespace will surely help with the adoption of ENS world wide.

ENS name: Flareon.eth

My reasons for wanting to be a delegate: DAOā€™s will help keep transparency the ultimate source of truth, and will help prevent corruption for the reconstruction of the internet, and the largest transfer of wealth and power in human history.

My view on each section of the proposed ENS Constitution

  • Name ownership is an absolute right: Agree, however the concept of country borders always perplexed me. What is different from the dirt in my backyard from the dirt in South America? Was the purpose of this planet to be divided by imaginary lines for purpose of freedom, enslavement or greed? I believe the way that our economy and ecosystems are structured has veered from what is right, best and just to greed. This is an opportunity to get that back, and I am here for it. As for name ownership being an absolute right, there should be a reward/incentive for those genuinely interested and passionate about this from the beginning, not rewarding others strictly because of the size of their pockets.
  • Registration fees exist as an incentive mechanism: Agree, however depending on oneā€™s current resources it can be seen as pay to play. Example, this process, while it might be righteous and just, can exclude those in areas of the world that do not have computers, internet, clothing or even running water. It is up to us to not ā€˜selloutā€™ to actors with poor intentions, and we do whatā€™s right because itā€™s right. While I am all for providing revenue for the DAO for ongoing development and improvement, others may not be and itā€™s okay to have differing opinions.
  • Income funds ENS and other public goods: Agree. At this moment in time, I believe what is happening is more or less a shift of assets that exist in the overall physical economy to this digital economy. The capital already exists, however rather than spending it on clothing, cars, campaign advertisements, etc, we are building a better, more transparent future. At least, that is the intention/my interpretation of this question. We need to power the vehicle and those that responsibly operate it before it can begin to safely take us to our destination. If we want to make it far, weā€™ll need a fine tuned vehicle and should anticipated to make repairs along the way.
  • ENS Integrates with the global namespace: Agree. It is one of many ways that one can be identified/differentiated via the internet. We must maintain decentralization at all costs.

My web3 qualifications / skills: I have very little exposure to Solidity and smart contracts, however my professional career is Cloud technology, specifically in Cloud Architecture. I want to be able to manage and deploy blockchain technologies using the Cloud if possible. I also want to learn how to program fluently as a software engineer, with interest in full stack development using Python as a backend.

As I learn and grow as an individual for the sake of others, these responses may change, and I am answering to the best of my knowledge at this moment in time. Iā€™m not trying to be right, Iā€™m trying to learn and understand truth. Thank you.

ENS name : pinbo.eth

My reasons for wanting to be a delegate: I very much agree with the concept of ENS and the value it brings to users. From a small point of view, it makes the addresses of encrypted currencies easier to remember and transfers more convenient. At the same time, it also laid a solid foundation for cryptocurrency to go mainstream.

My view on each section of the proposed ENS Constitution

Name ownership is an absolute right: Agree - Permissionless activity and interoperability should be encouraged. Web 3 is driven on the rights and actions of ownership, and I believe ENS domains have created a brand around allowing this to happen.

Registration fees exist as an incentive mechanism: Agree - From a branding perspective, ENS allows users to utilise their own name and / or username to enable growth in the industry. I also believe that an initial cost could ultimately result in incentivising users to NFT their name, which cause a knock-on effect and profiteering. ENS can therefore earn royalties from this.
Whilst ENS could potentially survive on the brand it creates alone, this allows greater top level margins to focus on internal projects. I have mixed views on the pricing structure for smaller words and this could be revisited.

Income funds ENS and other public goods: Agree - I feel this links in the previous point well. Treasury funds which can be distributed and controlled by the ENS and DAO will result in greater buy in and development.

ENS Integrates with the global namespace: Agree - This is my strongest viewpoint. Itā€™s already clear to see how well ENS has branded itself in the community, through web 2 social handle changes to discord usernames.

My web3 qualifications / skills: -
Proficient in programming and have node.js skills
At the same time, the logic is very clear, and there is a wealth of speech and coordination skills
