ENS DAO Delegate Applications

ENS name: Flareon.eth

My reasons for wanting to be a delegate: DAO’s will help keep transparency the ultimate source of truth, and will help prevent corruption for the reconstruction of the internet, and the largest transfer of wealth and power in human history.

My view on each section of the proposed ENS Constitution

  • Name ownership is an absolute right: Agree, however the concept of country borders always perplexed me. What is different from the dirt in my backyard from the dirt in South America? Was the purpose of this planet to be divided by imaginary lines for purpose of freedom, enslavement or greed? I believe the way that our economy and ecosystems are structured has veered from what is right, best and just to greed. This is an opportunity to get that back, and I am here for it. As for name ownership being an absolute right, there should be a reward/incentive for those genuinely interested and passionate about this from the beginning, not rewarding others strictly because of the size of their pockets.
  • Registration fees exist as an incentive mechanism: Agree, however depending on one’s current resources it can be seen as pay to play. Example, this process, while it might be righteous and just, can exclude those in areas of the world that do not have computers, internet, clothing or even running water. It is up to us to not ‘sellout’ to actors with poor intentions, and we do what’s right because it’s right. While I am all for providing revenue for the DAO for ongoing development and improvement, others may not be and it’s okay to have differing opinions.
  • Income funds ENS and other public goods: Agree. At this moment in time, I believe what is happening is more or less a shift of assets that exist in the overall physical economy to this digital economy. The capital already exists, however rather than spending it on clothing, cars, campaign advertisements, etc, we are building a better, more transparent future. At least, that is the intention/my interpretation of this question. We need to power the vehicle and those that responsibly operate it before it can begin to safely take us to our destination. If we want to make it far, we’ll need a fine tuned vehicle and should anticipated to make repairs along the way.
  • ENS Integrates with the global namespace: Agree. It is one of many ways that one can be identified/differentiated via the internet. We must maintain decentralization at all costs.

My web3 qualifications / skills: I have very little exposure to Solidity and smart contracts, however my professional career is Cloud technology, specifically in Cloud Architecture. I want to be able to manage and deploy blockchain technologies using the Cloud if possible. I also want to learn how to program fluently as a software engineer, with interest in full stack development using Python as a backend.

As I learn and grow as an individual for the sake of others, these responses may change, and I am answering to the best of my knowledge at this moment in time. I’m not trying to be right, I’m trying to learn and understand truth. Thank you.
