My reasons for wanting to be a delegate: I’ve been a user an supporter on ENS since launch.
I see ENS as an important public good. Here is a personal anecdote.
Recently, my registrar emailed me that ICANN was about to cancel my 10+ year domain name. It turned out that someone submitted a false report to some obscure database, which they were obliged to follow.
Yes, I managed to follow their process, and I still retained “ownership” of it. However, the emails were very intimidating and one sided. It was a 48 hour ultimatum, and I was already assumed guilty. What if I didn’t see the email in time? All this basically says is that you do not really own the domain. They do.
ENS fixes this.
My view on each section of the proposed ENS Constitution
- Name ownership is an absolute right: Strongly Agree
- Registration fees exist as an incentive mechanism: Strongly Agree
- Income funds ENS and other public goods: Strongly Agree
- ENS Integrates with the global namespace: Strongly Agree
