1. ENS Labs Updates @gregskril

Events

  • EthGlobal London Hackathon: 24 teams building on ENS, 5 received prizes, two teams will present next week
  • Infrastructure built allowing all ENS hackers to receive ENS names during EthGlobal
  • ENS Labs Offsite: aligned on future of ENS, exciting times, should be great year for ENS
  • Have ENS Labs representatives at Build Asia and ETH Bucharest at the moment helping builders

Tech

  • Coordinating improvements for library support for gasless DNSSEC, support for offchain names using Go-ENS
  • Shipped big refactor of app.ens.domains, subnames page will load instantaneously, easier to iterate going forward, laid big foundation
  • Google seems to be supporting search for ENS names (not official parnership)
  • Basescan (Base L2 block explorer) now supporting ENS lookups

2. Gitcoin Round 20

3. EthGlobl and ENS

  • Infrastructure built allowing all ENS hackers to receive ENS names during EthGlobal: https://twitter.com/ensdomains/status/1769760881427042636
  • Getting ENS in hands of hackers likely makes them inclined to include ENS in their projects, potential huge payoff
  • EthGlobal been great partner and happy to fund the initiative

4. Project Highlights

Opportunity to present anything being built on ENS. Former presenters have become ENS Labs members. None this week.

5. Review any upcoming events with ENS involvement

  • Sponsoring drinks at FarCon
  • Larger event in Brussels in May

6. Open space for service providers

Namestone by Resolver Works, https://namestone.xyz @slobo.eth

Unruggable @Premm.eth @clowes.eth

  • Mission: Scale ENS!
  • Make low cost and high throughput (millions of daily actions, thousands concurrently)
  • Looking at building ENS Chain
  • Why ENS Chain: No competition for block space, Fine grained control of gas price economics, Governance independance, Control our own decentralization tradeoffs
  • Reviewed many rollup stacks: Arbitrum, Optimism, zkSync, Polygonzk and created positives and negatives for each
  • Registry Design Possibilities:
    • L1 + L2
    • Full migration to L2
    • Migrate bridge registry design (New L1 registry + L2 Full Migration Registry)
  • Just in design phase, looking for community feedback and expect lots of discussion

7. Weekly Review of Canny

Engagement and upvoting on Canny are helpful, offering direct feedback to ENS Labs & Working Groups that benefit the ENS protocol. ENS.canny.io includes feature requests, integrations, bug reports, and community upvoting.
