Will there ever be a future in which the equal sign is normalized?

I highly doubt that ' = ' or 'equal sign' will ever be normalized.
these are reserved characters in URLs
= | ; | / | # | ? | : | space
as you can see, pointing to certain DNS may cause some trouble.
