Discussion Topics and Notes

MetaGov October Funding Request

An overview of the October funding request posted on the 9th was presented, highlighting differences from term six.

  • The proposed budget is smaller due to a leaner team, reducing monthly working groups’ compensation from $49k to $13.5k per month.
  • The working group’s scope is narrower; grants, hackathons, and growth programs have moved under the Foundation and service providers.
  • Discretionary funding is maintained at $50k, primarily limited to governance costs and contributor travel, while reporting will continue via community calls and the forum.
Blockful Service Provider Scope and V2 Review

Blockful shared updates regarding their Year 2 service provider scope and ongoing technical reviews.

  • Some upcoming initiatives include designing an ENS-wide referral program, exploring revenue-generating options like auctioning 1-character and 2-character domains, and drafting a social proposal to secure MetaGov audit funding for Governor Nexus.
  • Blockful concluded the 3-month delegation incentive program in September and is preparing a final performance report.
  • During their ENS v2 call data review, Blockful flagged an issue where the .eth token would be owned by endowment controlled by the Foundation; to preserve DAO control and decentralization, the proposal was adjusted so ownership transfers to a 1-of-1 Safe owned directly by the Timelock.
Namespace (SPP3) Quarterly Progress and Roadmap

Namespace provided an extensive update on product developments, ENS v2 integrations, and milestone achievements.

  • Namespace made significant progress on ENS v2 readiness, demonstrating functional v2 subnames and preparing a migration path for over 200 active namespaces.
  • Product releases include an open-source Avatar and Header service, a social record verification demo, an updated Namespace app with quick actions, Namera (an agent account policy layer), subname.dev (permissionless L2 naming registries), Diamonds (a collective funding tool for premium names), and ENS Forge (an SDK simplifying v1/v2 action routing).
  • Ecosystem growth was highlighted by reaching 10 million subnames following the acquisition and migration of Caldera subnames from Namestone.
eth.limo (SPP2) Technical and Operational Updates

The eth.limo team summarized user experience enhancements, network integrations, and security milestones.

  • Deployed dynamic error rendering pages to guide users through misconfigured content hashes, reducing inbound support tickets.
  • Integrated 128-bit post-quantum resistance for supported modern browsers to protect against harvest-now-decrypt-later threats.
  • Expanded network compatibility by enabling native TON network ADNL content hash resolution via app.eth domains and native Base L2 RPC resolution for .base.limo names.
  • Created an internal automated browser-sandbox tool with ENS Labs to analyze reported malicious domains against acceptable use policies.
  • Successfully added e.limo and e.link to the Public Suffix List (PSL) to enforce browser-level site isolation between untrusted subdomains.
Endowment Performance and Strategy

KPK presented the latest financial performance metrics and upcoming policy proposals for the endowment.

  • Total NAV reached $94M USD, split between ~56% ETH/LSTs and ~44% stablecoins, yielding a blended APY of 3.75%.
  • Portfolio positions generated $251k USD in September and $120k MTD in October, aided by fee rebates from LST providers like Lido (40%) and StakeWise (30%).
  • KPK launched the public Option Hub web interface to prepare for introducing options strategies to enhance yield on rebalancing.
  • An updated policy statement and PUR11 proposal will be posted soon to white-list onchain option venues and establish decision-making framework caps, alongside potential future adjustments to the 60/40 asset ratio based on market cycles.
