Why do you want to be a Steward of this Working Group?
At Tané, we believe that the mass adoption is the next big challenge for the crypto industry. We are eager to support the growth of the ENS protocol and the steady management of the ENS DAO governance because the ENS protocol and the upcoming Namechain are the most important products to connect non-crypto audience and various blockchain protocols, with the human-readable interface and user experience.
Our mission is to achieve and enhance the empowerment of the people by the decentralized technologies, and we are fully aligned with what ENS is trying to achieve.
Takeshi, the lead of our network operations team and the writer of this nomination post, has experience as a software engineer at Twitter and as a product manager at SmartNews which is Japanese unicorn startup that provides a news aggregation mobile app with 30M+ MAU, would be the main representative of the ENS DAO steward activities if elected, with regular support from the team of 3-4 members. I’m also the main representative of the Optimism Grants Council S6 and capable of and experienced in executing the critical operations in the DAO environment. My experience should allow me to coordinate the group of contributors and various stakeholders including Labs and service providers and contribute to achieving the collective goal of the DAO together with fellow WG members.
If I’m elected, I would like to mainly work on three things:
-
Governance autonomy
It’s critical to solidify the governance system and structure for the DAO to be a going concern. We should aim for a DAO that will achieve its autonomy with proper discussions and design thinking. My involvement in other DAOs has provided valuable insights into the pros and cons of different governance structures and their respective challenges. This experience will allow me to effectively contribute to strengthening ENS DAO’s autonomy.
-
Coordination with delegates, other working groups, contributors and stakeholders
The DAO now requires increased coordination with all the stakeholders including delegates and contributors like service providers as well as other working group members, now that the ENS evolves with the new product, Namechain and potential upcoming developers on the ecosystem. In order to achieve the smooth release and growth of the new product, we may need to consider new programs to coordinate those actors.
-
Contributor diversity
There has been great discussions about the talent pool and contributor diversity. This should apply to the ecosystem actors too. As a representative from Japan and Asia as a whole, I’m confident I can contribute to the DAO in unique and diverse perspectives from the community support to the governance contributions with the geographical perspective in mind.
Any other information you wish to share with Delegates (e.g. potential conflicts or existing engagements)
Tané is formed with a group of crypto-native product builders, based in Tokyo, Dubai and New York. We are backed by SoftBank, and Japanese tech giants like DeNA, GREE, MIXI, and closely work with the big Japanese enterprises and have strong relationship with Japanese crypto communities. We are active delegates at multiple DAOs, including Arbitrum, Uniswap, and Optimism.
We have also our own investment arm, as a separate entity, which has invested in a number of crypto startups but as of the time of writing it, we don’t believe there are clear conflicts of interest in terms of contributing to ENS DAO.
