Why do you want to be a Steward of this Working Group?

I would be grateful to have the opportunity to continue helping with ENS’s Public Goods grants mission. The history and motivation behind ENS funding Public Goods is meaningful to me. Our Builder Grants announcement includes a brief history contextualising my view of ENS Public Good’s mission here.

I also feel responsible for the grants we allocate because every bit of funding this working group receives is from the proceeds of ENS name registrations. I believe have a duty to make an outsized impact with our allocated budget, not only because of the source of the funds but also because there may be an opportunity cost in allocating these funds to Public Goods instead of Ecosystem or Core Protocol initiatives. I’m proud that the Public Goods working group, thus far, has made an effort to allocate responsibly.

During my time with working group we’ve focused on more than merely extending capital; we’ve also extended relationships with ENS. We’ve recognized that the benefits are not only the funding we can provide but also the endorsement and platform that we can use to amplify worthwhile projects. We currently have an open door for any project to speak on our calls, and we subsidize articles to highlight and promote our large grantees. I’m happy that most of our grantees follow through on long-term goals because of the milestone-based funding that I helped implement. Some projects have even gone on to secure self-sustaining funding. Considering ENS’s history of becoming self-sustaining, this is one way I measure success in our efforts.

If elected, I want to continue growing ENS’s unique Public Goods narrative, not merely forking protocol XYZ. I will continue seek to make outsized impacts with every protocol-earned dollar we can put towards our Public Goods mission. I also intend to lead and explore the following topics:

  • Reducing the overhead cost of our programs
  • Putting idle capital to work for public goods
  • Continuing to expand our network and outreach

Work or Initiatives from Past Terms

  • Supported the creation of Small Grants in 2022, which allocated grants based on community votes
  • Co-created and fostered the idea of a Public Goods funnel consisting of Small Grants, Growth Grants and Large Grants in 2023
  • Led the design and oversight of the Large Grants program, directly contributing to nearly half of the lifetime funding distributed by the working group since 2022
  • Promoted rubrics to increase the transparency of the selection of grantees.
  • Onboarded Questbook as a partner platform to assist with grant distribution in 2024
  • Assisted with creating the builder.ensgrants.xzy platform in 2024
  • Attended numerous events championing ENS Public Goods throughout my time with the DAO

I work full-time for Karpatkey in a Governance Role. My involvement has been fully disclosed, and will remain disconnected from my role in the Public Goods working group.
