As someone who is generally opposed to the Security Council model, I want to clarify that security gatekeepers exist in almost all protocols, and having that kind of authority within an organization’s structure can be reasonable.

The issue with ENS, in my view, is the duration of the Security Council’s authority. The irrevocable permission window is so long that it significantly reduces the influence and sovereignty of delegate governance. A shorter cooldown period (following a governance vote to disband it) would serve the protocol far better than granting multi-year authority that cannot be meaningfully challenged.
