For whatever the information may be worth, Stack Overflow and its associated network of Q&A sites elect moderators (sometimes more than one per election) using OpaVote with the Meek STV method; here is a recent example. Voters do not have to rank all choices if they do not wish to express any preference among unranked candidates.
