My suggestion is that at the end of each Metagov term, the working group should take a holistic look at the DAO’s finances and calculate an annual spending cap using a formula like this:

1. Take all DAO income from the past year derived from registrations and renewals.

2. Deposit half of this total into the endowment.

3. Calculate the yield from the endowment and halve it.

The combined amount—half of last year’s income plus half of the endowment yield—should determine the DAO’s spending for the next year. This provides a sustainable way to budget while allowing for growth in the endowment.

This is a solid approach to sustainable budgeting. Given we’re approaching the end of the year, perhaps MetaGov could work with @karpatkey to do a simple first pass at implementing this formula without much overhead.

This would give us an initial baseline, and the Term 6 Stewards could then pick it up as a living document to refine during their term.

Perhaps, but let’s first get an initial baseline using just the items Avsa suggested. Ultimately this could evolve into a feature on the ENS Ledger to keep it dynamically generated.
