What needs to be done to convince exchanges to integrate ENS so that when sending cryptocurrency to an EOA, ENS names populate and become usable? Exchanges are still used more than just DeFi swaps, I assume.
Multiple popular exchanges and wallets have yet to integrate ENS or even allow you to use that as an address. Otherwise it’s just invalid on their platforms. These sites and services are absolutely going to ignore any email from a non “official ENS” email. How can we make this happen ASAP?
Agreed. The upcoming DNSSEC should give exchanges a great marketing tool if they start issuing ENS subdomains like what Coinbase did. I am of the opinion namewrapper’s main target is exchanges and wallet providers.
Does anyone have a master list of exchanges + list of exchanges supporting ENS? If not, we should build one and start getting in contact with those exchanges who aren’t up to standard.
Compliance with ENS standard if very important Maybe we should consider spinning up a sub group that works with these exchanges to validate their implementations, essentially giving them a certificate/verification of use. Not a permission granted issuance but more of a review. This will help adoption of ENS when users see a “certified” or “approved by” label.
Metamask doesn’t currently support ENS when the chain is switched to L2. I believe the first step should be to work on getting Metamask to provide ENS support for L2.
This is actiely being worked on. I recently saw a discussion on Warpcast regarding this after it was highlighted by someone. I think Greg and Jeff replied on it. But I can’t find the link for some reason.
Premm.eth is doing R&D in this area. Dedicated ENS app chain.
I think that direction certainly needs to be looked at, one of the WG should be working on this in my opinion.
One of the problems here is that exchanges are greedy and make money anywhere they can, so they are most likely to try to get some cash from ENS, which we don’t like.
Secondly I think exchanges see ENS as unstable technology yet, not mature enough, and hence risky, that’s why they are still kinda staying away from it.
I would def agree that we need to push in that direction, maybe through personal connections? and yes, we need a list
