4. Vyper presentation
- Full Presentation
- Vyper is a smart contract language for Ethereum.
- Prioritizes security by default.
- Aims to onboard new Web3 contributors.
- Obsessed with optimization.
- In Solidity, optimization requires switching to low-level assembly, which is not readable and can lead to vulnerabilities.
- Vyper wants to handle optimization in the backend, like compilers in Web2 languages.
- It’s based on Python semantics
- Second most popular language after Solidity on the EVM.
- Secures $4.7B in TVL across multiple Defi protocols.
- Curve’s contracts are linked to Vyper
- Protocols like Lido and Velodrome use Vyper contracts
- Vyper is working on formal verification of its compiler, which significantly increases safety.
- Language diversity promotes competition and innovation
- It mitigates systemic risk by reducing reliance on a single compiler like Solidity
- Snekmate is a project that recreates Open Zeppelin libraries for Vyper as Vyper modules – GitHub link.
- Idea - create Universal Resolver in Vyper
- The Universal Resolver is a contract for reading data efficiently.
- It could be rewritten in Vyper, and if it’s more efficient, it would be a good test case.
