EP 5.26 Distribution Update - January 2025
The EP 5.26 implementation is progressing well, with the majority of governance distribution contracts now deployed. Through three distribution batches, approximately 27,000 ENS tokens (90% of the authorized amount) have been allocated through Hedgey vesting contracts to nearly 100 recipients.
Distribution Progress
We’ve completed three major distribution batches via Hedgey vesting contracts:
-
First Batch (December 31, 2024)
- 0xa35d65e95df52d7f6bcaa0fbbaf88b9a2bff74d5b892839d971f323436a746a6
- 10 contract recipients processed
- Focused on initial test group of small recipients
-
Second Batch (January 25, 2025)
- 0x46aca713338937d99ec1ce522aeef79e95af864860b3d807b724b94e744dbfd6
- 42 contract recipients processed
- Additional distribution to individual contributors and smaller organizations
-
Third Batch (January 25, 2025)
- 0xa24f99865b86ece0a259457dd97141a2f3cd7c58765fd3a7a9c6bbb8de1f0c13
- 47 contract recipients processed
- Completed distribution to remaining compatible addresses

Pending Resolutions
As noted in @danch.quixote’s update, some recipient addresses (contracts and safes that don’t implement ERC-721 support) cannot receive the vesting contracts due to lacking support for onERC721Received
or safeMint
. The Meta-governance working group continues to work with these recipients to obtain compatible wallet addresses.
The remaining ~3,000 ENS tokens will be distributed once we resolve these technical requirements with the remaining recipients.
Next Steps
-
For recipients with active vesting contracts:
- Access your grant via Hedgey
- Review the comprehensive management guide created by @estmcmxci
- Consider your delegation strategy
- Note that vesting begins from the contract creation date and continues for 24 months
-
For recipients still pending resolution:
- If you’re on the list of affected addresses, please contact @danch.quixote with an ERC-721 compatible wallet address
- We’ll continue processing distributions as alternative addresses are provided
- Ensure you’re offering an address that can receive and call functions on ERC-721s (Essentially the address must be able to receive and transfer NFTs)
For any questions about accessing or managing your vesting contract, please consult the management guide first and then reach out to a metagov steward if needed.
This pilot program represents an exciting step for ENS DAO, introducing a systematic approach to recognizing and engaging our ecosystem’s contributors through governance participation. Thanks to @AvsA’s thoughtful design of this distribution model, we’re expanding governance participation across the ecosystem in a meaningful way. Thanks to @danch.quixote for support with the distribution calculations and @estmcmxci for creating the management documentation.
