For register new domains : at least register for 2 years (2 years is just for example, maybe at least 1 year or 3 years):
3 characters register fee : $640 / year
4 characters register fee : $160 / year
If the domain is not expiry, renew fee:
3 characters register fee : $5 / year
4 characters register fee : $5 / year
If the domain is expiry, the fee is same as register new domain.
This policy can reduce the renew fee for real ENS users.
3- and 4-character domains are hot commodities. If others are willing to pay the higher fee for them, then it is additional revenue for the protocol. Reducing the fees for renewal also means it’s easier for domain hoarders to retain their domains forever.
Given the strong market demand for three- and four-character names, the current premium pricing not only reflects this scarcity but may even be an opportunity to capture more value. Rather than lowering fees, there’s a compelling case for maintaining—or even increasing—these prices to further drive protocol revenue and signal the premium nature of these assets.
