How is USDGLO funded in this? I guess you are not moving all the profits to the public good funding? I guess you take a cut from here, how is that cut determined and can it change?
Thanks for your question, @Killari.
100% of our profits are donated, and we do not take a cut.
How we are funded
Our funding comes primarily from donations, including contributions from philanthropists like Sid Sijbrandij through the Sijbrandij Foundation. Recently, we have expanded partnerships with chains that help us cover our operating expenses. For example:
- We’ve collaborated with the Stellar Foundation, with more partnerships to be announced soon.
Transparency and tracking
You can track both the yield we receive from our issuer, Brale, and the donations we make on ‘Our donations’ page. Updates are provided each month. Note: these are the funds we receive after our issuance partner Brale has taken a cut.
Long-term sustainability
To remain sustainable, we may eventually take a small portion of the yield. For instance:
- If Glo Dollar reaches a market cap of $1 billion (0.5% of the current stablecoin market), a 10% cut would still allow us to donate up to $36 million annually to support public goods.
