After going through every SPP2 proposal, I focused on infrastructure and security, followed by teams that could ship tangible ENS features → ie., sub-names, governance, and new identity primitives.
Personally, I want to thank all contributors, applicants, stewards, and stakeholders for the amount of work and coordination that went into this program.
Happy to engage with any of the Applicants privately on the rationale for the ordering.
# | Candidate | Budget | Reason |
---|---|---|---|
1 | eth.limo | Basic – $700 k | The ENS gateway we all lean on every day. Their overall reliability makes them indispensable. Happy to keep funding the backbone of .eth web content. |
2 | Blockful | Basic – $700 k | Security often gets ignored because it’s abstract, esp in DAOs. Blockful digs into attack surfaces and has an impressive track record with the DAO. |
3 | Namestone | $800 k | I’ve crossed paths with this team professionally in the past and they have a great track record. They have an impressive product and client list. Top projects trust them with sub-names, and I do as well. |
4 | Agora | Basic – $300 k | Clean governance UX matters. I’ve collaborated with Agora inside and outside ENS; would like to see them work more closely with the DAO, not just priv service contracts. |
5 | ZK Email | Basic – $400 k | A seasoned ZK team (ex-EF) bringing new talent and viewpoints to the community. It’s fresh thinking and exactly the sort of new tech/work/research ENS should explore. |
6 | Ethereum Identity Fnd | Basic – $500 k | Baller product. I haven’t spoken with this team yet, but their work aligns with my beliefs, especially ENS profiles. I’ve long said delegate info should be on-chain; I’ve held off setting up my own profile until SPP ended. |
7 | Tally | $300 k | Most-used governance front end in existence. I’ve worked with them for years across DAOs. I believe their work is important for DAOs and ENS. Would love to see them work more closely with the DAO. |
8 | JustaName | $300 k | Fun project; Looking forward to product advancements and interaction with the DAO. |
9 | 3DNS | Basic – $500 k | Bringing DNS on-chain is important, an area ENS should lean into. Looking forward to see what great things this team can accomplish and learn along the way. |
10 | Namespace | $400 k | Strong sub-name product, great team, and developer-friendly APIs. I believe it’s worth keeping them funded. |
11 | Lighthouse Labs | $300 k | Mobile governance is niche today, but smart-wallet growth suggests it won’t stay that way forever. Early support could be beneficial as user habits shift. |
