What Sibos 2026 Taught Us About Naming Onchain Finance

At Sibos 2026, ENS Labs found that institutions need links between onchain assets and existing identifiers. ENS can name a fund across networks and point to its LEI, issuer and records. The GLEIF work seeks financial-standard compatibility; adoption needs clear data ownership.

TLD Oracle Design Updated for ENSv2 RootRegistry, KSK Rollover

An update to the TLD Oracle RFC notes the IANA root KSK rolled on October 11, with the verifier updated to accept new trust anchors.

The author also outlines how ENSv2’s RootRegistry changes TLD assignment: DNS TLDs become reserved entries, and a REGISTER_RESERVED permission, grantable by the DAO after ENSv2 handover, would let the Oracle assign reserved TLDs to operators proving control via DNSSEC.

:balance_scale: Meta-Governance

@Sov chaired the Term 7 Meta-Governance call on October 15, with updates from Blockful, Namespace, ETH.limo and KPK and an open discussion on the ENSv2 activation calldata.

  • Term 7 funding: Cuts comp from $49K to $13.5K/mo and narrows the mandate: grants, hackathons and growth move to the Foundation and service providers, DAO tooling is dropped, and $50K discretionary covers governance and contributor travel.
  • Governor Nexus: Blockful’s completed the governor code with three auditor quotes in hand; the team will share a social proposal moving to authorize the Meta-Governance Working Group to fund the audit in anticipation of the DAO’s approval.
  • ETH.limo (SPP2): The team recapped Q3—BASE L2 and TON ADNL resolution, post-quantum TLS, and PSL listing for eth.limo/eth.link—called the PSL’s permissioned process a liability, and said it triages malicious domains with a browser-sandbox agent shared with ENS Labs. More on PSL here.
  • Blockful Year 2: The three-round delegation-incentives pilot ended with September’s final round; a performance report is due within two weeks. Year 2 work targets a DAO-wide referral program and auctioning one- and two-letter .eth names for revenue.
  • Namespace SPP3: Cap said the team crossed 10M subnames after taking over Caldera’s from NameStone, opened the Namera agent-wallet waitlist, and is building subname.dev, ENS Diamonds (pooled premium-name buys) and ENS Forge, plus subnames for PolyBasket and Bonus Wallet.
  • Endowment: Daniel Jean said KPK holds a live NAV near $94M (~56% ETH / ~45% stables, ~5% off the 60/40 target) at ~3.75% blended APY with new Maple and Pendle legs; a proposal to add options to the IPS goes to the Foundation within about a week.
  • ENSv2 calldata review: A review found the .eth ERC-1155 token would sit under the endowment, and so under Foundation control; it was changed to DAO control via a 1-of-1 SAFE owned by the Timelock. The proposal is expected live by end of week.

→ Discussion: Meta-Gov Working Group Term 7 Meetings: Thursday, 4pm UTC. Bi-weekly

:seedling: Ecosystem Highlights

Discussing ENS at the Intersection

As ENSv2 nears activation, the AI ecosystem is converging on agent identity: Namera pairs session-key wallets with ENS subname identities, while Adapter’s UBID adds cross-chain reputation. Social-record proofs (a tentative ENSIP) and payment preferences (ENSIP) point toward portable, usable agent profiles.

Digraphia: A Cross-script ENS Linking System

Digraphia links ENS names written in different scripts. A holder adds reciprocal text records between two names that resolve to the same address. The system needs no new contracts and helps users prove cross-script identity, reduce phishing risk, and discover registrations.

Caldera migrates 9M+ ENS subnames

Caldera migrated 9M+ .era ENS subnames from NameStone to Namespace without downtime after NameStone sunset its API and resolution. Namespace now handles gasless, offchain issuance and CCIP-Read resolution—keeping Caldera usernames live without user action.

ENSv2 arrives for agent wallets

ENSv2 support for MetaMask Agent Wallet exists: this plugin lets an agent wallet register a Sepolia .eth name, deploy its resolver, bind ERC-8004 identity, publish records and set reverse resolution—with fail-closed checks, policy/MFA signing and onchain verification.

ENS names meet stealth payments

ENS records are public by design, but tools such as Cloaked can pair a shareable ENS name with fresh stealth addresses for receiving payments. Privacy Pools V2 lets users deposit into a shielded pool and transact privately within it; it does not make the ENS name or its records private.

Bridge Wallet flags changed ENS names

Bridge Wallet now flags ENS recipients whose ownership or resolved address changed recently, prompting a sender to verify before sending. The feature targets drop-catching: a lapsed name is re-registered by someone hoping to receive transfers intended for its former owner.

ENS Manager restricts composite resolver unwrapping to official allowlist

A pull request to ens-app-v3 restricts composite resolver unwrapping to a chain-specific allowlist, preventing untrusted resolvers from self-reporting as official ENSv2 mirrors while preserving official Sepolia behavior. The change adds a SpoofCompositeResolver fixture, seeds a test name, and includes regression and isolated E2E coverage for both official and untrusted composite cases.

ens-contracts PR adds onchain DNSSEC ancestor inception tracking

An ens-contracts pull request updates the DNSSEC and DNSRegistrar contracts to store ancestor inceptions onchain for every (name, type) pair, rather than just the leaf record. The update adds new getter functions, an AnchorsChanged event, and includes key 38696 in the anchor set, while requiring future claims to satisfy newInception >= getInception(name, type).

ENS Docs Site Upgrades to Vocs v2, Moves to Cloudflare Workers

The ENS documentation site has been upgraded from Vocs v1 to v2, with deployment migrated from Cloudflare Pages to a Cloudflare Worker using Static Assets. The change consolidates API routes, self-hosts fonts, and restores prior homepage and theming while requiring a paid Workers plan due to bundle size.

ensjs fills in mainnet ENSv2 contract addresses after zeroAddress bug

An ensjs PR fills in 15 mainnet ENSv2 contract addresses that had been left as zeroAddress, which had caused all v2 actions to fail since the mainnet deployment on 2026-10-02. It also notes that mainnet’s Universal Resolver is the ManagedUniversalResolverProxy rather than the public proxy sepolia uses, with the public proxy still fronting URv1 until a DAO vote repoints it. A separate fix addresses a getNames revert caused by a resolveNames signature mismatch with deployed DefaultReverseResolvers.

ensjs PR fixes five outdated ENSv2 mainnet contract addresses

An ensjs pull request updates five mainnet contract addresses (UniversalHelper, ETHRegistrar, ETHRenewerV1, LockedMigrationController, and MigrationHelper) to match the ENSv2 deployment finalized on 2026-10-02. The prior values, added in an earlier PR, referenced contract instances that had since been superseded. On-chain checks confirm the new addresses hold the expected roles, though ENS registration itself is still not active.

ENSIP

ENSIP: Stealth Address Resolution (Updates)

The ENSIP defines ENS stealth address resolution with ERC-5564 meta-address records, client-side or CCIP-Read flows, and scheme verification. It now supports verified mode with an onchain key and hidden-key mode, which leaves resolution unverified to preserve post-quantum privacy.
