Grails - Nomentum Labs SPP3 Progress Report Q3 2026
Grails has only been operating under SPP3 for a few weeks. Over its lifetime, it has become one of the largest sources of referred revenue for the ENS DAO. To date, Grails has facilitated over 100,000 renewals and over 11,600 registrations. Roughly 60% of all referred ENS revenue came through Grails in Q3.
Our primary focus has been ENSv2 readiness and will continue to be for the next month or two, even after v2 launches. We’ve been testing on sepolia and seeing promising results with our first iteration of a bulk registration and renewal contract and are working quickly to make sure everything’s solid before go time.
Progress
Our goal is that when ENSv2 launches on mainnet, Grails users can register, renew, migrate and trade v2 names from day one, and DAO revenue keeps being attributed correctly throughout. All of the work below runs against the ENSv2 contracts on Sepolia. On mainnet it stays switched off until v2 is deployed and live.
Bulk registration and renewal contract (new, deployed to Sepolia)
BulkRegistrationV2 is the ENSv2 successor to the bulk contract Grails already runs on mainnet. Its source is verified on Etherscan.
- It registers or renews many names in one transaction and pays in stablecoins. It supports gasless approval via permit.
- Each renewal is routed automatically: names already on v2 renew through the v2 registrar, and names not yet migrated renew through the v1 renewer. Users don’t need to know which version a name is on.
- One failed name doesn’t revert the batch, and unspent funds are refunded in the same transaction.
- Every registration and renewal carries the Grails referrer, so DAO revenue stays attributable.
- It has a full test suite and has been checked end-to-end with commit, register and renew transactions on Sepolia.
Indexing and data
- A new ENSv2 indexer tracks v2 registrations, renewals, transfers, expiries and resolver changes.
- It records the stablecoin each name was paid in and the amount.
- v2 migrations are recognised as migrations, not counted as sales or transfers.
- A name keeps its full history across migration, so its activity, sales and listings follow it from v1 to v2.
Marketplace
- v2 names (ERC-1155) can be listed, bought and offered on through Seaport.
- Listings are checked against the name’s current on-chain state. When a name migrates, is re-registered or expires, stale orders are cancelled automatically and the owner is notified.
App
- End-to-end v2 flows: registration (with stablecoin payment), renewal, migration of all v1 name types (unwrapped, wrapped and locked), and record editing.
- A new resolver and permissions management area for v2’s more flexible resolver and roles model.
Comms
bama.eth joined the team to run communications for @grailsmarket. Engagement with our most recent posts has been overwhelmingly positive. For Q4 you can expect to see regular market recaps, education about ENSv2 migration, and highlights of notable sales.

Next Quarter
-
Finish ENSv2 support on Sepolia. Complete v2 marketplace support, run replay and parity testing, and merge the app’s v2 flows.
-
Be ready for mainnet v2 on day one. Deploy BulkRegistrationV2 to mainnet and switch the stack to v2 as soon as the contracts land.
-
Lead on migration. Use the Grails migration flow and @grailsmarket to help holders move to v2 safely.
-
Keep growing DAO revenue through renewals and registrations.
