☎️ ENS Ecosystem – Weekly Meeting: 11am ET, Thursday – Term 6

1. ENS Labs Updates

Presented by Greg (ENS Labs)

  • ENSv2 Apps Announcement
  • Two new apps are being built for ENSv2:
    1. Consumer App: Abstracts complexity and provides a simplified interface for everyday users.
    2. Developer App: A specialized tool for developers and power users with access to detailed data (resolvers, records, fuses, permissions, etc.).
  • Rationale: The current Manager App tries to serve both user types and ends up too complex for most while too limited for developers. ENS Labs aims to clearly separate the two experiences.
  • DOMA x ENS Partnership
    • Partnership has been well-received at the ICANN event in Dublin.
    • Earned positive press for bridging DNS and ENS utility.
    • Signals growing interest from traditional DNS communities in integrating Web3 naming systems.
  • Devconnect / ETHGlobal Buenos Aires
    • ENS will participate in Zero to dApp Day, a full-day educational event for hackathon preparation.
    • Simon (ENS Labs) will present a developer walkthrough on integrating ENS into dApps, alongside projects like Scaffold, The Graph, and Uniswap.
  • Manager App Update
    • A new profile feature quietly rolled out on the ENS Manager app.
    • Social announcement forthcoming — a “mystery update” for users exploring ENS profiles.
  • App Format
    • ENS apps are web applications, not mobile store apps.
    • Launch target for ENSv2: Q1 2026 (as noted in Erin’s recent blog).

2. Contract Naming Season — Next Steps

Presented by Nishchal

  • Proposal & Governance
    • Proposal Link
    • Proposal passed and queued for execution — someone can now execute it to transfer funds from the DAO to the multisig.
  • Community & Coordination
    • A new Telegram channel for open discussion: t.me/c/enscribers/158
    • Weekly meetings are starting; reach out to Connor or James for invites.
    • Plan to host Twitter Spaces (X Spaces) to raise awareness.
  • Collaborations & Updates
    • Working with Namehash Labs on ENS Awards.
    • Expanding DAO integrations — currently includes ENS DAO, Uniswap DAO, and onboarding NounsDAO and Liquity.
  • Technical Discussion
    • Reverse Records: Contracts lacking Ownable or ReverseRecord functions cannot set primary ENS names.
      1. To enable naming, contracts must migrate to versions supporting ownership or reverse resolution.
    • ENScribe’s Role: Exploring mechanisms for proxy/admin-based contract naming, but ownership-based naming remains the best path.
  • Success Paths:
    1. Naming eligible contracts directly.
    2. Publicizing best practices (use of Ownable or ReverseClaimer).
  • Raffy’s Work: Developing ENS Namer, a lighter library alternative to ReverseClaimer/ReverseSetter.

3. Project Highlights

3.1. PinMe.eth.limo

Presented by Ted Liao

  • Frontend deployment tool for decentralized websites using ENS subnames.
  • 150,000+ websites deployed, 5M+ resolutions recorded.
  • Used by devs to host e-commerce, e-books, and censorship-resistant sites.
  • Future initiative: Launching Octant V2 Vaults with ENS Foundation and others (each party depositing 1,000 ETH) to incentivize decentralized web hosting and immutable forever frontends.
  • Potential collaborators: Filecoin, Aptos Liquid, and others.

3.2. LocalSafe

  • Created by Patrick Collins (ex-Chainlink).
  • A static UI for Safe multisigs, hosted on IPFS and resolved via ENS (localsafe.e.limo).
  • Enables multisig transaction management through a trustless, verifiable front end.

3.3. Crefy Connect — Presented by Fadhil Mulinya

  • Human-centered wallet infrastructure enabling seamless onchain logins (email, phone, biometrics).
  • Integrates ENS subname provisioning: developers can let users claim subnames (e.g., user.app.eth) directly from the app dashboard.
  • Supports ERC-4337 and ERC-7702 standards for account abstraction.
  • Dev portal enables wallet linking and subname contract deployment.
  • Contact: t.me/fadhil_dev

3.4. ENScribe App — Presented by Abhijeet Bhagat

  • New Features:
    • Call Data Visualization: Displays transaction call data for setting subnames, forward, and reverse records.
      • Helps devs understand multi-transaction workflows (setSubnodeRecord, setAddr, setName).
    • Contract Naming Library: Integrated with Hardhat ENScribe Plugin, enabling naming during deployment scripts.
  • Supported Chains: Base, Scroll, Arbitrum, and others supporting ENSIP-19.
  • Docs & Resources:
  • Install via NPM: Exposes a simple API (nameContract()), letting devs name contracts programmatically across chains.

4. Upcoming Events

  • ENS Buenos Aires Social — November 19
  • Rooftop event near the Devconnect venue in Palermo.
  • RSVP: luma.com/nyu51tta

5. ENSIP Updates

Presented by Prem

  • ENSIP-24 — Arbitrary Data Storage
    • Now open as a pull request with support from katzman.eth and nick.eth.
    • Introduces a key-value store (string → bytes) resolver profile.
    • Expands ENS capabilities beyond current text records (string → string), enabling storage of more complex or binary data directly on ENS resolvers.

6. Service Provider Updates

  • None this week (many teams traveling for ICANN in Dublin).

7. Open Discussion

Presented by Prem

  • ERC-8004: Agent Registry
    • A new agent identity registry spec integrating ENS at the core level.
  • ERC-8041: Agent Collections
    • Companion standard allowing fixed-supply agent collections, akin to NFTs for AI agents.
    • Related to x402 payment standard.
    • Reference: Tweet by @satsbased

Closing Notes

  • Next call remains at 11 AM ET.
  • Daylight Saving Time shift on November 2 — calendar will auto-adjust for your timezone.
