1. Welcome ALL [image]

  • Welcome to the weekly dose of public goods goodness.

2. PG updates

  • The calls will be on a biweekly cadence
  • Builder grants restarted.

3. Miscellaneous ENS updates

4. mevlog-rs - EVM transactions querying presents milestone updates

  • Pavel gave an update on https://mevlog.rs/
  • Mevlog is a CLI for querying EVM chains
  • It’s more flexible and gives you more control over checking transactions
  • You can query all the different EVM chains in a single place
  • Integrated with the public directory of RPC endpoints
  • Built-in search feature.
  • Mevlog2 is the new iteration of the tool
  • It’s simple to install and run with ‘mevlog2” command
  • Doesn’t require configuration or RPC endpoint setup.
  • It offers a list of >2k chains
  • Users can browse transactions and view details (events, transfers, traces, etc.)
  • Next update will be to explore an MPC endpoint.
  • This will enable agents to use the tool.
  • Work on mevlog inspired another open-source public good project

5. The DRC presents updates on the current legislative landscape

  • Stablecoin yield is a big issue.
  • Banks negotiated a position in the Genius Act that stablecoin yield issuers can’t offer interest, but stablecoin business partnerships can.
  • Coinbase offers 3.5 APY for USDC holders, which is attractive to consumers.
  • Banks lobbied Republicans, arguing that exchanges offering high interest through stablecoin rewards would cause a bank run.
  • Brian Armstrong (Coinbase CEO) threatened to pull support from the market structure bill if the stablecoin issue wasn’t resolved.
  • AML and the fake secrecy act requirements in DeFi are contentious.
  • 3 Republican offices supported the proposal, but it was pulled and will be reproposed in March
  • The CFTC held a markup, with Republicans voting for it and Democrats abstaining.
  • They’re advocating for a bipartisan quorum at the CFTC and SEC.
  • Democrats are asking for the president to nominate and confirm Democrat and Republican commissioners at the SEC and CFTC before engaging with digital asset market structure rulemaking.
  • Ethics concerns exist due to the President’s family’s involvement in digital asset markets.
  • Democrats want an ethics provision preventing the President, Vice President, members of Congress, and senior executive branch officials from personally benefiting from digital asset financial dealings while in office.
  • Working on narrow issues pertinent to ENS and its community, including developer protections to reduce liability.
  • Rulemaking will happen from agencies like the SEC and CFTC, regardless of whether the market structure bill passes.
  • Focusing on advocacy for L2s.
  • Aiming to ensure L2s are not seen as traditional financial technology.
  • Kicking off a working group with a broader group of L2s later this month.

6. Open floor for all questions, proposals and other presentations etc.

  • Welcome ALL :sparkles:
  • European Decentralisation Institute Digital Identity Policy project updates
  • Interop research project updates on morphing into dnssec solutions bridging dns → ens
  • Prometheus: An Ethereum-based Image Authentication System presentation
  • Open floor for all questions, proposals and other presentations etc.

1. Welcome ALL [image]

  • Welcome to the weekly dose of public goods goodness.

2. European Decentralisation Institute Digital Identity Policy project updates

  • Initiative is about Digital Identity Policy in Europe.
  • Not limited to the EU, includes the UK, Switzerland, Norway, and Central Eastern Europe.
  • Seeking active contribution from Switzerland and the UK.
  • End of March/Early April: Closed-door roundtable with 25-30 participants (policymakers from EU, UK, Switzerland, politicians, industry executives, subject matter experts).
    • Location: Most probably Switzerland (Zurich or Zug).
  • Policy brief sent to policymakers, politicians, industry, media, think tanks, blockchain foundations, and published on their channels.
  • The policy brief revolves around the notion of digital subsidiaries.
  • The first policy brief discussed decentralization in the context of digital sovereignty.
  • Next steps: conceptualize the triangle between digital sovereignty, subsidiarity, and identity.
  • A comparative study will be conducted across several identity systems around the world.
    • Like the identity system in Bhutan on Ethereum and Aadhaar in India will be examined.
  • Interviews will be conducted to understand how the principle of subsidiarity was considered and the choices made.
  • The document will be available for review from March 1st onward.

3. Interop research project updates on morphing into dnssec solutions bridging dns → ens

  • Project is morphing and evolving.
  • Focus is on the Unified Resolver Matrix, specifically the branch most relevant to the Ethereum protocol’s evolution.
  • Experimenting with the P256 pre-compile since the Fushaka upgrade.
  • Universal Resolver Matrix developed using the grant.
    • A “how-to” guide for using different resolution patterns on different namespaces across different platforms and protocols.
    • Includes DNSSEC resolution pattern, EVM resolution pattern, non-EVM resolution patterns, and WebAuthn resolution.
    • More here: https://www.eketc.co/docs
  • Plan is to experiment with different approaches with DNSSEC resolution.
  • The latest innovation is the TLD Oracle concept.
  • Gasless DNSSEC Resolution Demo: https://dnssec.eketc.co
  • DNSS proofs are fetched offchain via Gateway and verified onchain, enabling zero gas resolution of DNS-verified DNS records using algorithm 13.
  • Next plan is to start working on web authentication proofs

4. Prometheus: An Ethereum-based Image Authentication System presentation

  • Built Prometheus: https://conalloreilly.eth.limo/prometheus
  • Prometheus is a system for authenticating images over a decentralized network, similar to how Ethereum authenticates transactions.
  • The goal is to create a system with the same level of security as Ethereum for storing applications, but for authenticating images.
  • The system has three layers: Notarization, Forensic, and Oracle
  • Notarization Layer:
    • Raw image data from a camera is stored on a decentralized file storage network like IPFS or Ethereum Swarm.
    • The content identifier of the data and a cryptographic hash of the compressed image are stored on the main Ethereum network.
  • Forensic Layer:
    • Determines the probability that an image is authentic using raw sensor data.
    • This layer authenticates reality rather than detecting fraud.
  • Oracle Layer:
    • Users vote on the authenticity of an image, incentivized by rewards.
    • Uses a shelling point-based model, similar to traditional price oracles.
    • The onchain forensic workflow provides proof for the Oracle’s decisions.
  • Soon, integrating content credentials (C2PA) into the system alongside sensor data analysis.
  • Content credentials rely on a centralized system, so combining them with sensor data improves security.

5. Open floor for all questions, proposals and other presentations etc.

1. Welcome ALL

  • Welcome to the weekly dose of public goods goodness.
  • There has been an increase in grant submissions impersonating builders.
  • Applications include links to Githubs, Twitters, etc., of reputable builders
  • Approval is not automated, and the due diligence process is thorough.
  • Due diligence process work has increased significantly due to this, including contacting impersonated builders to confirm their application

2. European Decentralisation Institute Digital Identity Policy project updates part deux

  • Policymakers and politicians are becoming aware of the impersonation issue and AI agents.
  • Developing a 3D framework with a triangulation between 1) digital sovereignty, 2) digital identity, and 3) digital subsidiarity.
  • The draft of the policy brief will be ready soon.
  • A roundtable is scheduled for April 7th
  • 2 representatives from the ENS DAO will be participants.
  • Developed a functional taxonomy as a foundation for comparative analysis of digital identity systems around the world

3. Deimos presentation: an open-source mobile ZK benchmarking platform that measures client-side proving performance on Android and iOS devices

4. Voterax presentation: a privacy-preserving, reputation-powered coordination layer designed to enable fair and transparent decision-making across Web3 and Web2 institutions

  • A privacy-preserving reputation power coordination layer.
  • It seeks to create a “universal coordination layer” suitable for bounties and Web3 governance.
  • Uses a two-point system:
    • Campaign points: specific to a particular campaign and are burned after the campaign ends.
    • Campaign points are earned for every task within a campaign
    • Reputation points: gauge influence and can be used as additional voting power
    • Reputation points are earned over time for completing campaigns or other activities.
  • Voterax aims to shift decision-making power from those with financial strength or expertise to those actively involved in the ecosystem.

5. Open floor for all questions, proposals and other presentations etc.
