1. Project Highlights [@conor ENScribe]

  • Naming smart contracts with .eth names/subnames
  • New updates with usability
  • Playing with ENS Subgraph and ENSNode
  • Users can pick names from existing names they have
  • Option to set primary name or forward resolution
  • You can also now share the address of the contract and see all relevant information for it, including the associated name for it
  • ENScribe secured a $25k grant from the Ecosystem
  • Grants are usually given retroactively to those who build cool stuff on ENS
  • More about it: Term 6 Grants - Summary - #11 by conor

2. Review Upcoming Events

  • July 2nd at the ethCC official ENS event
  • Official Luma coming soon
  • Links and details in the next 2 weeks

3. ENSIP Updates

4. Space for Service Providers

4.1. NameHash @lightwalker.eth

  • New version of ENSNode (0.27)
  • A major update is that it includes 3DNS domains and TXT records
  • Strong indexing support for 3DNS domains
  • Shipped enhancements to the way that configurations of ENS Indexer are handled.
  • ENS Node has now been merged into the ENS test environment
  • Work is being done for the next release of DNS Node, version 0.28.
  • Reverse resolution is being worked on.
  • Work is being done on an ENS Rainbow v2 data format.
  • ENS Rainbow is being made extensible to grow the set of rainbow records across time.
  • Terraform scripts have been shipped to help people run their own ENS node instances
  • A solution is being developed to index resolver record values, which have been very limited in the past
    • This is a foundation for accelerating primary name lookups
    • The goal is to radically accelerate lookups through index data, including cross-chain primary name lookups
    • With a single request, users could get all primary names of an address across all chains
  • Actively recruiting, with job descriptions to be published soon.
  • A referral program might be coming to ENSv1 soon.
  • Feedback was given to provide a cost estimate for running an ENS node
  • Suggestion to create a website for a healing competition
  • The ecosystem could put up a bounty for whoever heals the most

5. Open Space for Additional Topics

  • Community is invited to participate in this investment opportunity: [Temp Check] ENS DAO Investment in OpenBox Inc
  • Brandly will possibly join the next MetaGov call to talk about his proposals for the DAO to do an equity investment in OpenBox Inc.
  • ETH Prague highlight: Tim Berners Lee (creator of World Wide Web), mentioned he has an ENS name and would make domains more decentralized if he could go back in time.

ENScribe - contract naming improvement

  • Discussion post / proposal overview HERE.
  • Problem: Not all contracts can have a primary name.
  • Solution: extending the current permission logic in the Reverse Registrar contract
    • Give the original deployer of a contract the ability to set a primary name
  • Potential solutions include: oracles, ccip-read, eigen layer, zk proofs, or decoding the deployer from the contract address.
  • Asking for thoughts and feedback from the community.
  • Questions and concerns were raised around decentralization, trust, protocol-level implementation safety, and overall security concerns that need to be addressed.
  • Adding support for new contract types requires DAO approval at the controller level.
  • To explore further:
    • AA deployers
    • Burner/compromised key deployments

5.1. JustaName

  • Presenting an XMTP+Base hackathon project
  • XMTP, ENS subnames, AI agents, communication, subscription - themes of the project.
  • Built a small package for devs for implementing this functionality – it’s an extension of the current XMTP client with added logic.
  • The hub is a user-facing platform where users can search for and interact with registered agents.
  • The aim is to allow devs to monetize their work around agents.
  • You need to deposit funds in the wallet and β€˜subscribe’ to an agent in order to talk to it.
  • Agents can perform actions like resolving ENS names and charging fees.
  • Chat goes through XMTP, agents and users use Coinbase wallet, built on Base chain, uses Base paymaster, ENS subnames claimed through JustaName infra.
