3. ENS x Octant PG Round Reminder
The ENS Octant PG round closes April 2nd (possibly April 1st in the US).
A notion page provides a guide for applicants.
Giveth hosted a Twitter space about the round.
4. PG Allocation Strategies Discussion
The Public Goods Working Group has been giving out grants through the builder grants program.
Possibility of growing the amount of funding given out through the public goods WG.
Interesting opportunities around funding mechanisms and how to allocate funding and measure impact.
Experimenting with different funding mechanisms and exploring ways to contribute larger amounts of funding to tools and infrastructure foundational to the Ethereum ecosystem.
A document has been created and shared for feedback, with the goal of presenting it as an RFC in the forum to discuss possibilities.
The Public Goods Working Group’s current builder grants are seen as providing smaller funding amounts, and there’s a need to rethink the size and distribution of funding to be more progressive.
There is a need to explore larger fundings, and partnerships, and leverage bigger funding opportunities.
Discussions often revolve around choosing between quadratic funding, direct grants, or retrofunding.
Different mechanisms have different strengths.
If scaling up the amount of funding, be intentional about the desired outcomes and how to scale in a way that allows for measurement before overcommitting.
Concerns exist about the public goods working group’s overhead costs.
The goal is to build alliances with other cornerstone players in the Ethereum ecosystem for a bottom-up approach.
Funding allocation decisions range from centralized grant managers to community-based approaches.
The 2024 expense report .
5. Open floor for all questions, proposals and other presentations etc.

Magma program founder
Public Goods initiative to find developers and startup founders from Africa
Two-week in-person program.
Founders get advice and mentorship, find partnerships, collaborators, learn, etc.
Received a large grant from ENS DAO
Stats:
There are 76 founders and builders,
70% are startups and 30% are individual builders
40 of total 76 are startups
Those 40 startups account for 4% of all stablecoin transaction volume in all of Africa!
The next (3rd) cohort starts next week
A lot of collaboration between projects
Info:
A lot of untapped opportunity for ENS
5. Continuing the conversation on ENS Public Goods: Rethinking Our Funding Impact
Rethinking Funding Impact
A previous discussion on this led to integrating good takeaways into a document.
The goal is to explore ways to fund more projects and explore different funding mechanisms.
The intent is to increase the volume of grants and avoid outsourcing responsibilities as stewards.
This shared document has comment access for feedback.
The next step is to post it on the forum for broader input and to gauge interest.
Ecosystem Alliances
There is potential to create alliances within the Ethereum ecosystem to fund public goods in a less siloed manner.
The EF is reducing its role as the sole grant giver in the ecosystem.
Others will pick up the responsibility to continue funding.
The DRC is getting matching funding from the EF.
There is a need for a more coordinated effort to increase support for projects.
Next Steps
Go through all of the comments and see if major updates have been made to the doc , then aim to post it and get broader feedback.
6. Open floor for all questions, proposals and other presentations etc.

2. Miscellaneous ENS updates of general interest
Amendment proposals to the SPP program
ENS Labs is at ETH Taipei
The next event is ethCC .
The ENS manager app added Sepolia for easier testing for developers without having to switch chains.
The multi-delegate contract is out.
@conor is the founder of Web3Labs, a blockchain infrastructure company.
The focus is on open-source funding, especially for key developer libraries and tooling.
Ethereum is the leading platform for decentralized applications.
A strong developer ecosystem is critical for creating apps.
There is a challenge in funding developer tooling.
The DevTools Guild is similar to the Protocol Guild but for dev tooling.
They support projects from different categories: Development frameworks, libraries, smart contract languages, and public goods.
Many projects are already integrated with ENS.
Projects have significant track records.
Aims to ensure high-quality tooling for Ethereum, maintaining its lead in dev frameworks and libraries.
Transparency is important for projects.
Biannual reports from projects will be publicly available, detailing achievements, announcements, and future roadmaps.
Looking for launch partners to create a good impact and awareness.
Aiming to raise $5 million, seeking individual funders willing to contribute $250k to $500k.
Presentation
15min video presentation
App demo presentation
Started as a research project funded by the New Zealand government.
Mission: create new economic systems that allow hyper-local communities to flourish.
Network of micro DAOs.
Created a mechanism that allowed this group to democratically decide how money is spent.
Used Web3-inspired patterns: Quadratic voting, conviction voting, fund streaming, dynamic threshold delegated voting…
Stage two: put the money movement bit.
Create the whole funding flow, which includes normal funders and normal partners.
Stage three: wrap it up in a bonding curve and actually go full end-to-end crypto with ENS wallets.
Stage four: scale it.
Create a marketplace.
Millions of hyper-local communities.
Anybody with money who wants to support localism.
A final version of the document will give more details on what the budget looks like going forward.
The budget is posted on the forum, and then it will move to a vote.
5. Open floor for all questions, proposals and other presentations etc.
Kenya
@clowes.eth went to Kenya after being invited by Joseph from Borderless Africa after a working group call.
Borderless has huge potential!
A lot of talent and passion for ENS in Kenya, making it low-hanging fruit for future public goods funding.
