ENS Service Provider Accountability

ENS Service Provider Accountability: Now Live

We just shipped a new feature for ENS DAO: Service Provider Accountability.

Track quarterly reports from all ENS service providers in one centralized view.

Live now: ENS DAO Service Provider Accountability | Governance Transparency — Anticapture

What it does:

A single table showing:

  • Provider name, website, proposal link, and budget
  • Quarterly report status (Published, Overdue, Due soon, Upcoming)
  • Report due dates and direct links to forum reports

Makes it effortless to see who has delivered, who is late, and how providers compare.

Connection to the Metagov Governance Retro:

This feature directly implements Recommendation #2: Transparency & Documentation Infrastructure from the Metagov governance retro published this month.

The retro identified that ENS faces critical decisions around accountability mechanisms and transparency standards, but current governance infrastructure provides insufficient data to make these decisions objectively.

Their recommendation: Build standard documentation practices and a governance data repository that makes budgets, decisions, and outcomes visible and traceable.

This a first step towards that infrastructure. We’re actively working to improve ENS governance based on the retro’s findings, and this is the first step in building the data foundation the DAO needs for evidence-based decision-making. This feature was already in development previous to the retro’s delivery, based on needs we observed from delegate calls.

How to update your report status:

Service providers can update their report status by:

  1. Creating a GitHub pull request on the Anticapture repo
  2. Linking your published ENS forum report
  3. Updating the relevant quarter’s status

This creates a verifiable audit trail and keeps everything community-reviewed.

:megaphone: Action needed from service providers:

Please verify your report links are correct.

If you have quarterly reports that aren’t linked yet, submit a PR to add them. If you need support getting set up or have questions about the process, reach out—we’re here to help.

Thank you for sharing this!

Will it be possible to add a column with a count of milestones completed (based on the submission) contrasted with the reports submitted? A visual easy % of progress achieved based on the initial proposal.

Great work.

This would be hard to carry out subjectively. Thankfully we have AI.

I’ve redacted the Providers given I’m not 100% confident in the output just-yet.

However it’s already demonstrating some interesting patterns.

Hey @blockful, this is great. I love that you guys stay shipping.

I hate to say this, it’s pretty awkward, really, but I sense a COI here.

Should an SP be providing the accountability tooling every other SP (and the SPP Committee) relies on, or does that work belong with a neutral party? Seriously.

I get that governance security and monitoring is core to your scope (Anticapture, governance frontend, etc.), but this still feels like a reach. I really struggle with the question, and I think it’s important we reckon with it while we wrap up the retrospective.

Could we defuse it by moving the dataset/schema under the SPP Committee’s control (once/if the proposal passes) with multiple maintainers approving changes, or by automating the ingest straight from forum reports so no provider has to PR into another provider’s repo?

I built tooling that greps the forum to do exactly this—happy to share so we can build neutral, objective accountability tooling for the DAO together.
