:ballot_box_with_ballot: Proposals

DNSSEC Algorithm 7 Patch Proposal

Makoto proposed a one-call executable to remap DNSSECImpl algorithm 7 to the already-patched RSASHA1Algorithm contract, fixing an omission from the prior patch set. Impact today is low (no active TLDs on algo 7), but it closes a config and security gap.

→ Discussion: [Executable] Update DNSSEC Algorithm 7

Con’td: Foundation Board Expansion

A counter-proposal recommends an open nomination process requiring 100k token endorsements and a five-seat board: one permanent seat for Nick Johnson and four elected by the DAO. While directionally sound, concerns remain regarding ENS Labs holding two of five seats as the largest funding recipient.

[Temp Check] ENS v2 Pricing: 5-Character Name Price Adjustment…

ENS Labs proposes raising 5+ char name fees to $12/year (3–4 char unchanged) and adding multi-year discounts to encourage long-term registration. Based on research and user feedback, the changes aim to balance accessibility, stability, and protocol value ahead of ENS v2.

→ Discussion: [Temp Check] ENS v2 Pricing: 5-Character Name Price Adjustment & Multi-Year Discounts

[Temp Check] Authorize TLDMinter as Root Controller

Proposal: authorize TLDMinter to batch-onboard 1,166 post-2012 ICANN gTLDs via DNSSEC proofs (no per-TLD DAO vote), with safeguards: 7-day delay, veto window, rate limits, proof freshness, and emergency pause, then proceed to audit + executable.

→ Discussion: [Temp Check] Authorize TLDMinter as Root Controller

ENS Bridges DNS and Onchain Identity for Organizations

ENS extends identity beyond .eth by enabling DNS domains to be brought onchain, allowing organizations to reuse existing trust rather than adopt new naming. As DNSSEC adoption grows, this bridge becomes more practical, positioning ENS as a flexible identity layer across systems.

Revised Unicode Character Count Affects Non-ASCII .eth Pricing Discussion

New research by Raffy.eth has significantly revised the total 3-character Unicode combinations to approximately 327 trillion, down from an earlier estimate of 4.9 quadrillion. Despite this substantial correction, community opinion argues that the number remains large enough to warrant reconsideration of registration and renewal costs for non-ASCII .eth domains compared to ASCII alternatives. This high-impact discussion has major implications for ENS DAO pricing policy.

→ Discussion: Unicode (non-ASCII) .eth registration/renewal pricing

Discussion on standardizing Service Provider milestone reporting

Community members are discussing standardization of Service Provider milestone reporting to improve accountability. The proposal involves maintaining documentation on the ENS DAO GitHub repository, with Service Providers submitting updates via pull requests to enable multiple interfaces to display accountability data from a single source.
