Term 5: Working Group Spending Summary - 2024 Q3

Introduction

The goal of this report is to provide a “Cash Basis” spending overview for Q3 of 2024 (July 1 - September 30).

Spending

All Working Groups

The USD equivalent of total working group spending for Q3 was $501k. USD price conversions for both USDC and ETH are made at the time the respective transactions occur.

Ecosystem

The Ecosystem working group spent 197,707 USDC and 6 ETH during Q3.

Spending Across Initiatives

Bug Bounty

The USDC sent during the quarter topped up the ENS bug bounty program on Immunifi. Funds do not represent bounties paid but rather the funding of the program.

Grants

The grant spending during Q3 consisted of a grant to Blockscout, eth.sucks, and a minigrant program for the ENS Name Manager Frame, Scope, and Kiwi News.

Events

The Ecosystem Working Group sponsored the ENS Unconference event at ETH CC and had a presence at DAO Tokyo.

Services

Services include payments for discord moderation, newsletter curation, and DAO social media management on X and Farcaster.

Misc

Other expenses encapsulated spending for the term include the sponsorship of ENS Subgraph queries, Registration and delivery of swc.eth to Stand with Crypto, and topping up the ENS Fairy wallet which is used to onboard users without ens domains at irl events.

Meta-Governance

The Meta-Governance working group spent 151,300 USDC during Q3.

Working Group Compensation

The Meta-Governance working group funds compensation to working group stewards, secretary, and scribe as provisioned in the ENS DAO Steward Compensation forum post.

DAO Tooling

DAO Tooling consists of costs associated with tools needed for DAO functions such as automation, voting, and coordination.

Events

Events includes costs associated with the ENS Unconference and ETH CC presence.

Public Goods

The Public Goods working group spent 136,999 USDC during Q3.

Grants

Public Goods grants were distributed to Large Grants recipients for milestone completions. The recipients include Rotki, Firefly, GasHawk, Borderless Africa, Urbe Campus, and Scaffold-ETH. You can check out the projects, progress, and milestones on Questbook.

Additionally, a grant was given to ETH Mexico through the Perpetual PG Bounty program.

Events

Event spending this quarter included presence at ETH CC and DAO Tokyo as well as sponsorship of the TUM Blockchain Conference.

Services

Services include the writing and preparation of content on Public Goods activities and grants.
