III. Forum Improvements

Stewards deliberated what metrics to include in forum plug-ins. Stewards are weary of possibible gamifcation or presenting irrelevant information to Delegates. The Meta-Governance working group will continue to evaluate how they can better display proposal and voting information throughout the forum.

Attendees: carlosdp.eth, coltron.eth, oakgroup.eth, John Burnet, simona.eth, vegayp.eth

:arrows_counterclockwise: Ecosystem

The Ecosystem Working Group hosted meetings on July 18th, 2022 and July 25th, 2022 at 6PM UTC.

I. Budget Discussion

Attendees reviewed the proposed Q3/Q4 (2022) Budget for the Ecosystem Working Group. Builders are encouraged to present projects to the ENS DAO during this meeting time to seek feedback for grant funding. TNL will remain responsible for subdomain education.

II. Policy-based ENS subdomains issuance infrastructure

@Sinestia presented Community Name Service (CNS) which enables conditional ENS subdomains to be registered and distributed to communities. CNS implements soulbound tokens and are planning to integrate the ENS Name Wrapper as well. This project is open-source, builds ontop of the ENS Protocol, and makes issuing subdomains easier.

III. ENS Project Highlight

@garypalmerjr is soft-launching a project to bring awareness to Web3 domains. (web3domains.com) It is a news and information website pertaining to Web3 domains. They are seeking sponsorship and are open to syndicated content from trusted sources (TNL/ENS/ENSDAO).

IV. ENS Integrations:

The Audit competition has come to an end and an update is expected from the core team within a week on the contract audit status. Delegates are encouraged to review the alpha.ens.domains site and inform the ENS Development team of any issues.

I. Budget Discussion

Attendees reviewed the proposed Q3/Q4 (2022) Budget for the Public Goods Working Group. No objections were brought forth.

II. ENS Small Grants

The voting period for the ENS Small Grants has now ended. Winning proposals will be funded shortly. Stewards reviewed some concerns regarding the proposal process including spamming and non-relevant proposal submissions. It was suggested to have a -1/+1 voting system with a threshold that removes down voted proposals.

A Code of Conduct specific to the ENS Small Grants site was suggested as well, including a flagging system to remove proposals that violated this Code of Conduct. Discussion was also held regarding the definition of Public Goods. An informative regarding Public Goods within the ENS Ecosystem will soon be published to help Delegates and Builders understand what projects fullfill the ENS Protocol’s long-term viability.

Attendees: alisha,eth, anthonyware.eth, avsa.eth, chidi, coltron.eth, gregskrill.eth, hellenstans.eth, joshua franklin, oakgroup.eth, ricmoo.eth, slobo.eth.

Makoto.eth issued the State of ENS at EthCC in Paris on July 20th, 2022. Updates include the imminent arrival of ENS Name Wrapper which grants the ability to turn any .eth name into a ERC1155 NFT. Wrapping a .eth domain enables the parent domain to restrict what can occur with subdomains. The name wrapper works by introducing the concept of fuses (rights), each fuse can be enabled/disabled permanently & irrevocably.
