:jp: Shibuya Meetup: June 8

On June 8th at 6:30pm, ENS & CryptoBase will host a meetup in the Shibuya district of Tokyo, Japan. This meet up is an opportunity for local web3 builders to participate in “lightning talks,” with an emphasis on those integrating ENS.

Similar to many previous IRL events, the hosts may distribute custom ENS swag cards, featuring the ability to mint the holder’s very own POAP via an embedded NFC chip.

ENS will also have a presence at ETHPrague 2023 and will be printing more of the beloved personalized swag cards for everyone!

  • To avoid doubling efforts, @Karpatkey will wait two weeks to combine several proposed changes into a single community vote.
  • Any change is a joint exercise, with proposed changes to strategy being initiated by either karpatkey or from the DAO community. Karpatkey remains focused on the long term vision of the endowment and continues to monitor market conditions, new trends, etc.

:star: Weekly endowment reports are shared in this forum thread, where you can also engage and discuss the endowment with the karpatkey team

Additional Topics

Aragon DAO Global Hackathon 2023

  • ENSify won $2,500 for the ‘Kind Reminder’ bounty.

“Kind Reminder Bounty: Notifying interested parties about governance proposals or working group meetings can be a tedious task. With the governance community spread across Twitter, email, and Telegram it would be great to give people the option to get reminders where they prefer. Not everyone hangs out in governance forums to stay up to date with notifications”

Refunding Gas for Delegations & Governance

  • The Meta-Gov working group will be reimbursing gas costs for governance proposals dating back to the beginning of the DAO.
  • This includes any on-chain executable proposal where delegates paid gas to vote.
  • ethback.xyz, a tool created by @gregskril, will be used to distribute the reimbursements.
  • The Meta-Gov working group will continue providing gas-less delegation for another month on Tally.xyz for anyone holding 10 or more $ENS tokens.
  • Gas-less re-delegation also continues on delegate.ens.domains for holders of 50 or more tokens.

:seedling: ENS Ecosystem

The Ecosystem working group hosted its weekly meetings on May 18th and 25th:

ENS Fellowship - Term 3

The purpose of the ENS Fellowship program is to reward builders who are actively contributing to the ENS Ecosystem consistently and repeatedly.

Building on the success of the pilot program last term, the Ecosystem working group stewards modified the fellowship program to be three grants of $20,000, instead of one grant of $50,000.

The ENS Ecosystem working group stewards are excited to announce the three fellows for Term 3!

For more information about the Fellowship program and to review some of the excellent contributions made by the selected Fellows, read the full announcement on the governance forum.

ENS Core Updates

  • Gasless DNSSEC implementation has passed an audit, planning to have testnet deployments live by the end of June.
  • Steps 3, 4 & 5 (forum link) potentially completed in next six weeks.

Changes to ENS Support

  • ENS is moving support from Twitter to the ENS Website Support via chat widget.
  • Check out the tweet and meet ENS Labs newest teammate: ‘Hopper’.
  • Users will first be answered by Hopper; which utilizes assisted AI writing, and allows article searching in chat. The move is expected to increase efficiency.
  • Users can still be escalated to a support agent; Or be assisted in the official Discord: chat.ens.domains.

Gitcoin Grants Update

The ENS Ecosystem working group distributed matching funds to eligible participants of the ENS Ecosystem featured round, which took place alongside the recent Gitcoin Grants Beta Round from April 25th to May 9th.

This ENS-focused round provided an effective way for the community to support projects building on top of ENS by utilizing Gitcoin’s quadratic funding model, which calculates the proportion of match funding a grantee is eligible to receive based on the breadth of contributors, rather than the depth of contributions.

:star: ENS DAO Newsletter received support from the second-most unique contributors in the round, granting the maximum funding allowed from the matching pool. As always, we are incredibly thankful for our generous readers and supporters!

Check out the top 20 projects and match amounts below:

Bug Bounty Update

@nick.eth | @nicksdjohnson

  • Nick has been corresponding with Immunefi to potentially launch their bug bounty program.
  • Immunefi onboards with no upfront fees, provide a platform, rating service, triage service, categorizing, and more: for 10% of bounties awarded.
  • Onboarding process requires ENS Labs to improve upon their own process.
  • Nick recommends moving to Immunefi for quality of service and attracting more testers.
